Original caption
How do you get Celiac? When I first saw a specialist, he told me that being genetically predisposed (having one of the celiac genes) + gluten exposure + any stressful event (mental or physical) = the genes trigger the disease. He said it can happen at any age! It can happen in babies (when gluten in introduced) all the way to older age. PS- I Updated this caption to say that someone in said her DR called it a “qualifying event.” Such a perfect description So what constitutes a stressful trigger or a qualifying event on the body? To name a few: Birth Illness Vaccines Flu Any change in gut health Strep throat Ear injections School challenges Mono Pregnancy Surgery Divorce College Moving So many more! Are there outliers to this? For sure- we are all super complex. Just passing along what I’ve been told in hopes of helping people know how we got on the gluten free train! 🩷
