Welcome to part 1 of renter friendly roundup. I'm going to show you five upgrades that are a little bit more approachable than contact paper. And I'm going to start with one that you could literally get off your couch and do right now. Those ugly white blinds. You can actually take them down and it's surprisingly really easy. Just make sure you save all the hardware. I've done this to pretty much every window in my apartment. And even if you do absolutely nothing else, the difference is immediate. Or you can take it one step further and add Roman shade. And if you don't want to take them down, at least add some nice curtains. Speaking of curtains, for a really easy bathroom upgrade, ditch the shower curtain and grab a tension rod and some floor to ceiling curtain panels and instantly elevate your bathroom. Okay, moving on from curtains. You can also replace your cabinet handles. I got a box of these handles for like 20 bucks and was able to replace every cabinet handle in my apartment. As long as you get ones that are compatible with what you already have, they go into the exact same holes. So super easy to swap back. This took me like half an hour and for literally $20, I feel like this made my kitchen look so much better. And yes, I did this in my bathroom too. And got matching ones. Also, why do those faucets always look so hard to clean and so disgusting? Anyway, I feel like the before and after speaks for itself here. I've always loved sconces, but thought that I would have to own a home before I could hang them. But turns out they're renter friendly too. Just tuck the wires in and get some rechargeable bulbs. These are truly one of my favorite upgrades, especially at nighttime. And please don't let your ugly apartment carpet convince you that you can't have area rugs. Stick to rugs that are medium or high pile. They'll layer nicely and they'll drag from the carpet that you probably didn't want. Follow along for more renter friendly upgrades that won't take you all weekend.
