🇬🇧UK Skilled Worker Dependant Visa & ILR — something I recently learned and wanted to share.

You know, if you're a Skilled Worker dependant and you're approaching your 5-year ILR qualifying period, please check your dates carefully. From my understanding of the current UK immigration guidance, if you still need some time to complete your 5 years after the main applicant settles, the dependant may need to apply for a 3-year extension, even if they only need a few weeks or months to reach their ILR qualifying period. I learned this recently and wanted to share. So, if you're a Skilled Worker dependant and you're approaching your 5-year ILR eligibility, listen to this because this can save you a very expensive little surprise. So, as a dependant, if you're approaching your 5-year ILR eligibility, you can't just apply for that gap period. So, directly, you'll have to pay for the visa and I'll just charge for 3 years. But that doesn't mean that you've completed your 5 years. So, directly, you'll have to pay for that. It is not refundable. So, the 3 years that we have paid for, that money will go. So, before you make your visa and ILR plans, please check your dates properly because sometimes the difference between your current visa expiry date and your 5-year qualifying date can become a very expensive little gap.
