Do you think that dating someone your bestie has feelings for is worse than dating your bestie's ex? Tinder Double Date Island is back for another juicy season and luckily for you, I'm here to recap each and every episode. So we've just met our new Aussie host, Kat Clark, and all of our double daters. These are the Australian auditions to see who's gonna go to that global villa in Portugal. And if you're new here, the premise of Tinder Double Date Island is simple: sometimes dating with your bestie is better. Honestly, thinking about it now, if my bestie was present at all of my first dates, I think I could have saved myself a lot of heartache and had a much better time. There are 12 contestants but only eight are gonna make the cut, and I'm already picking my favorites. So in this round, they're playing a game of 'Flame or Not', essentially answering some pretty racy dating q's from Kat. This game is the first round of three games in the audition process meant to test the double daters. It really made me think of how I would answer the questions versus how my bestie would. And the q's are spicy. I've got some written down here because of course I'm making notes. Questions like, 'If your bestie didn't approve of the person you were dating, would that mean you would call it quits?' And the spiciest question of all: 'Do you think dating someone your bestie has feelings for is worse than dating your bestie's ex?' I was really surprised by some of the answers, especially the answer Ava gave. She said no, it wasn't worse, but I low-key think that it is. And look, obviously both scenarios are terrible. I don't wanna date my bestie's ex and I don't wanna date anybody that she has feelings for. Gun to my head, if I did have to choose, I would pick dating her ex over dating someone she has feelings for, because the person she has feelings for could be the one. We don't know what's gonna happen between them. We already know how it played out with her ex. Am I wild for saying that? I'll say this ep really made me sit there and question a lot of stuff. Now I said that I'm already picking my faves, and I thought Jaz was gonna be a top runner for me because when she answered one of the questions around who should pay on a first date—namely, who should pay if they invited you on the date—she kind of gave like a very ethical answer. She said whoever invites a person on the first date should pay, but on the second date it's a free-for-all, and she would be happy paying, which I kind of agree with. But then Kat asked another q around flirting, basically saying, 'Do you think it's okay if your partner flirts with other people while in a relationship?' And Jaz came out and flat out said, 'Flirting = cheating.' Which I disagree with, and obviously we all have our own lines to draw. I'm of the opinion that harmless flirting is fine—don't come for me for that—but to say that flirting is flat-out cheating, oh, that was just an interesting answer, which kind of makes me really want her to make it to the global villa because I want to see what else she's got to say. On that point, another great question Kat asked was, 'Should a bestie always come before a date?' And literally all the double daters agreed, yes, they would put their bestie before their date. However, Jaz did not agree. She's the only one who did not put her paddle up; even her bestie, Lilly, put her paddle up. And I felt just a touch of tension between the two, which is another reason why I think they gotta get in that villa. I wanna see what happens. After watching this first game, who do I think is gonna make the cut? Honestly, I think it's too early to tell. All I know is I am sat for this season of Tinder Double Date, and if you are too, make sure you're coming back here to get all my recaps, all my juicy hot takes, and all my unfiltered opinions of every single ep. I'm so glad to be.
