Original caption

FEDOR VS THE MOUNTAIN OF DAGESTAN ☦️🇷🇺 2012 Russian Combat Sambo Championship. Moscow. Semifinals. Fedor Emelianenko stepped onto the mat against Akhmedshaikh Gelegaev, the top student of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov himself. The father of Khabib. The architect of the Dagestani wrestling machine. Gelegaev's corner brought the plan every fighter had tried to use on Fedor for over a decade. Take him down. Grind him out. Break him on the mat. They forgot one thing. Fedor Emelianenko is a Sambo master before he is anything else. The Russian style he was raised in. The style Abdulmanap's kids were built to dominate. And on that day, the Last Emperor showed why the world called him what it called him. Every takedown defended. Every scramble won. Victory secured. Fedor then went on to win the championship by defeating his own brother Alexander in the final. Gold medal. Two brothers on the podium. One name written into the history of Russian combat forever. ☦️ #OrthodoxGrit #Fedor #TheLastEmperor #Sambo #OrthodoxFighter
