So dry cleaners get more bladder cancer, and you need to hang it outside before you wear it. And if it says dry clean and not dry clean only, you can actually wash it yourself. They only have to print one method. Your bamboo sheets are rayon. Walmart and Kohls were fined 5.5 million for calling them bamboo. Made in Italy only means it was sewn there. The fabric and the dye can come from anywhere. Italy tried to change that and the EU refused. Wrinkle free, non-iron, easy care. That's actually just formaldehyde baked into the fabric and a top cause of clothing rashes. Stain resistant means PFAS. They tested 72 kids school uniforms and found it in every single one. Cotton was surprisingly worse than the polyester. Grade A cashmere doesn't exist. There's no grading standard anywhere in the world, so anyone can print those words. Your puffer jacket. China tested 1,000 of them against their labels and one in five did not match. Another test found one sold as 90% down that actually had 3%. Anything with embroidery or sequin, 15% of it never has to be listed, so you don't actually know what it's made of. And recycled polyester. 98% of it is drink bottles, not old clothes. That is the industry's own figure. And for context, I make a deodorant without aluminum, not because aluminum is poison, but because antiperspirants plug the sweat duct shut, and I couldn't find one that worked without it.
