Traveling internationally? Do this first. Before you pack your suitcases, there's one thing that I want you to do that could be incredibly important if something goes wrong. It's called STEP. The Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, and it's a free service through the U.S. Department of State. You enroll your international trip and it helps the U.S. government know where you are traveling. Why does this matter? If there's a natural disaster, civil unrest, an emergency, or another serious situation while you're abroad, STEP can help you receive important safety and security information from the U.S. embassy or consulate. It also gives the U.S. embassy a way to know that U.S. citizens are in the area. And here's the part that I really want you to remember. STEP is free. So there's really no reason to skip it when you're traveling internationally. Save this for your next international trip. Save this, share with your travel partner. Follow for more travel tips. Just like this, that can help you travel smarter, not just farther. Make sure to follow me. I've got you covered.
