THE NEW TIRE EFFICIENCY STANDARD 2029 PHASE 1 Maximum rolling resistance limit: 9.1 N/kN Targets the worst-performing tires on the market. 2033 PHASE 2 Maximum rolling resistance limit: 7.2 N/kN Much stricter - up to 70% to 91% of current tires fail this phase. WHY CALIFORNIA IS DOING THIS SAVE MONEY Drivers could save up to $179 over 4 years (Phase 2). LESS POLLUTION Lower rolling resistance means less fuel burned and fewer emissions.
