A few months ago I was planning on introducing peanut butter to my baby right here in this hospital parking lot because if I'm being honest, introducing new foods to your baby can feel scary. What if they have an allergic reaction? What if they go into anaphylactic shock? Especially when you spend enough time on social media. Turns out this is a myth and we are going to bust it! Research shows that difference in risk of 30 percentage points (50.0% in the avoidance group vs. 20.0% in the consumption group) is overcome by the introduction by the American Academy of Pediatrics and supported by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
