Travel with us from New York to Florida via Amtrak Auto Train. So to kick off the first leg of our trip, we have to make it from New York City all the way to Lorton, Virginia. Definitely give yourself enough time because if you are stuck in traffic, especially once you get closer to DC, you can and will miss your train. Currently stopped in Maryland for a pit stop. We are only an hour and 19 minutes away and I cannot wait to get on this train and be able to chill and relax. The process of booking an Amtrak Auto Train ticket is so simple and honestly for us it came out cheaper. The flight for us four would have been around 1300. We actually paid 1060 for four tickets including our car so we did not have to worry about a rental. The best part is you can pack your car with absolutely everything you need. Obviously nothing refrigerated. There is no TSA, there is no weight restrictions, it is so easy. Once you arrive at the booth, they are going to give you a number for your car, you are going to take with you only what you need on the train, you are going to go ahead and proceed inside and check in. FYI, I have yet to find a rude Amtrak worker. They are all great. Once you check in, you go ahead and wait until boarding. They even have a cute little outside area to keep your kids occupied for a bit. Look at the size of this train. It is obviously two floors. It is massive. Your seats recline, your feet go up, they are actually very spacious and keep in mind these are coach seats. They do have sleeper cars but we opted to go for the coach seats just because it was a little bit cheaper for us. The views are immaculate. They do sell food on board so you can definitely grab some of their options or you can bring your own food. You do also get free complimentary breakfast. And here we are in sunny Florida. This is our second time making this trip and we will continue to do it over and over again. Once you make it to Sanford, you just listen up for your number, you go ahead, grab your car and you are ready to start your vacation.
