Did you see the video about the new laws that have been passed in Canada? There were quite a few new laws, but I'm going to go over some of my favorite. Femicide is now classified as first-degree murder. Meaning, if a woman she was in an intimate relationship with, they will automatically be charged with first-degree murder, which carries a sentence of 20 years with zero eligibility for parole. And for those of you that don't know, first-degree murder is the most serious charge in Canada. Next up, we have no more house arrest or conditional sentences for anybody who sexually assaults or commits crimes against minors. You have to go to jail now and serve all of your time in jail. Lastly, coercive control and deep fakes of somebody are now crimes. Coercive control makes psychological abuse and isolation in intimate relationships illegal. It is a crime. Threatening to share non-consensual sexual images or deep fakes of somebody is now also illegal. It is a crime.
