LOW FERRITIN, LOW IRON, SEND HELP… what I’m doing ↓ P.S. Don’t forget to follow me on @Sophie.riichards for all the iron + ferritin tips 🤎 So I recently got my bloods back and my ferritin and iron are really low. Not a huge surprise because with endometriosis, this is something I’ve struggled with for years and always found hard to get back up. However, now that I’m pregnant, everyone seems to be freaking out 😅 Side note, I want to come back to this conversation because WHY are doctors all over you like a rash when you’re TTC or pregnant, but when you’re not they don’t seem nearly as bothered?! Anyway… Here are the 3 things I’m doing to try and get my levels back up: 1. Supplementing iron 💊 Nothing fancy, just what my doctor prescribed. I’m taking it with vitamin C to help absorption and avoiding taking it around caffeine or calcium, as they can interfere with absorption. And good gut health, as always, is important for overall absorption too. 2. Iron maxing 🥩🌱 Basically, being really intentional about getting iron-rich foods into my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure you’re following because I’ve literally just finished filming a super easy iron-rich meal prep video and the recipes are actually SO tasty. And yes, there’s a chocolate brownie involved 👀🍫 3. Iron infusion 🩸 This one is TBC. If I wasn’t pregnant, I probably wouldn’t rush into it, but because I am and getting my levels up is really important, I’m considering booking one. I’ve messaged a doctor I know about this too, so I’ll keep you updated. If low iron or low ferritin is something you’re struggling with, me and you both, queen 🫶🏼 Follow along and we can see if all of this actually works together.
