Let me make something ABUNDANTLY CLEAR. I in no way condone or excuse what happened to those poor babies. That being said however, I think you can have empathy for Lindsay Clancy while still acknowledging that what happened was horrific. But it was also very preventable. I’m currently postpartum, struggling with severe anxiety and actively trying to get help myself. I know I need support, I’m asking for it, and yet I’m still sitting on waitlists for weeks and weeks. It’s made me realise just how difficult it can be to actually access mental health care when you desperately need it. Having empathy for someone’s mental illness doesn’t mean excusing their actions.
