show the real numbers of my Roth IRA. I started at 19 years old. Let's get straight into it. 2019, the legal maximum was $6,000. I contributed $0. 2020, the maximum was $6,000. I contributed $1,400. 2021, I was able to contribute $6,000 and maxed it out for the first year. 2022, I graduated college and entered the workforce. And I was able to contribute $6,000 to max it out that year. 2023, the max went up to $6,500 and I was able to contribute that. In 2024 and 2025, the max went up to $7,000 and I was also able to max that out. And 2026, the legal limit went up again to $7,500 and I was able to max that out for this year too. That brings my total contributions to $41,400. But here's the kicker. The total value of my account, which is contributions plus any compound interest, is $67,500. Seeing raw numbers helped me take action back when I was younger. So I'm hoping this inspires someone to open their accounts today. Let me know if I can help out in the comments.
