Fun fact: If you have ADHD, your brain might have some extra musical skills 🎵 if you can ace keeping on rhythm it might be down to a few of these: 🥁 Rhythmic Entrainment: Your internal timing naturally matches the beat you’re hearing. Think tapping your foot or nodding your head along to a beat before the other instruments even come in. 🗣️ Auditory-Motor Sync: Your brain easily coordinates movement with the sounds your ears hear, mouth movements needed for singing, and if you’re adhd and good at dancing this might be why too! 🎸 Auditory Memory: Your brain remembers sounds and musical patterns, even when they’re not currently playing. Think knowing exactly where the vocals belong during an instrumental section. 🎹 Temporal Prediction: Your brain uses patterns in the music to predict when the next sound is coming, even if you’ve never heard a song before you find out can pick up where it might be going very easily. And of course, a lot of the above can be explained by our old friend dopamine, music is a huge source of dopamine! And our ADHD dopamine lacking brains LOVE dopamine. It’s no secret ALOT of neurodivergent people use music to regulate themselves and every time a song drops a beat, finishes a predictable pattern, you dance to the beat, or nail hitting all the lyrics in a chorus, your brain gets a massive hit of dopamine. (And 00s pop/rock emo music hits just the right dopamine spot am I right 🤤 ) #dopamine #neurodivergenttiktok #emokid #musicismylife
