Hundreds of people, including tourists, missing after flood in Nepal

A devastating flash flood just hit an area in Nepal in the Himalayas, including a checkpoint bordering Tibet and authorities fear that many have been killed. Video taken from CCTV cameras, which is quite distressing, shows people frantically trying to run before a deluge of water and mud slams into buildings, covering roads. Officials say around 400 tourists and travellers, including citizens from India, the UK and Malaysia, are now missing. Looking at the flood on the villages and on the settlements, I'm really terrified that this is one of the biggest devastation that had ever happened in Nepal. The floods happened north of Kathmandu in the Rasuwa district, an area that's popular with tourists who go to trek in the mountains, but there are also many local villages there. Houses, bridges and hydropower projects were swept away. Nepalese officials say their initial information suggests that the floods were caused by an avalanche which was triggered by an earthquake. A rescue effort is underway as crews are trying to reach people trapped in mud-covered homes, but poor weather has hampered some of the helicopter flights from taking off. Dozens of people have been saved and many of them have been taken to the hospital where desperate family members are waiting for information, but still hundreds of others are stranded or missing.
