The American Heart Association just put out a big scientific statement on caffeine, and it's linked to heart disease. So let's talk about this. This study was LED by a cardiologist out of UC San Francisco. So this actually isn't one study. It's a current review of a lot of different studies that are seeing how much caffeine is actually good for your heart, how much your heart can actually handle. So the main takeaway of these studies was that for the average adult, most adults can handle up to 400 mg of caffeine a day, and that's still technically considered safe and doesn't put your heart at risk. Which is roughly three to five cups of brewed coffee a day. And interestingly enough, drinking two to four cups of coffee a day was actually linked to a lower risk of heart disease, heart failure, and stroke. So if you're drinking caffeine, anything in moderation is actually fine. Just don't overdo it. So where the study actually started to get interesting, the bigger risk that the study found was actually related to drinking energy drinks instead of just drinking a coffee. It stated that energy drinks pack three to four times more caffeine per ounce than a regular coffee, which makes it much easier to blow past that 400 mg a day without even noticing. So just kind of wrap up this study. It basically was just saying, coffee isn't the worst thing in the world for you, but if you're drinking energy drinks consistently, just make sure you know how much you're actually putting in your body, because your heart cannot handle that much, and you should not be putting that much pressure on him.
