Maggie Update🐴🩷

Update on Maggie. For those that didn't see the earlier video, today at around 11 o'clock Maggie started colicking. We gave her banamine and electrolytes and first response. Took her out like, you know, all the things that we would normally do and she did seem to perk up. Started to feel better. And so we kept a close eye on her all day. And around 4:30 this afternoon, she laid down once again, refused to eat her dinner, was looking very uncomfortable. And it's kind of funny because in the video that I posted, she looked super perky, her eyes looked bright, but she was rolling, she was pooping, um, had not pooped in six hours. I could not hear any gut sounds and refused to eat her dinner, which is super abnormal. And so I called the vet. We decided to bring her in. Now, once I got Maggie to the vet clinic, they ultrasounded her and they palpated her, all the things. Um, her poop looked pretty normal and she did not look dehydrated necessarily. And when they ultrasounded her, they did find that her colon was displaced. Now, for those that don't know Maggie's history, in March, when she was pregnant with Margo, she had colic surgery for a colon displacement at around 290 days pregnant. That time, Margo in utero was like laying on her colon and making it to where it couldn't move back without surgery. And then she recovered super well from that, was doing great. And then a month later, the same thing happened and we had to do surgery again. Um, two major abdominal surgeries in a month is absolutely insane on a horse, let alone a pregnant horse. And then she pushed her baby out by herself 20 hours later. Kind of a super horse. She did fantastic and like did everything she could for that baby. And then we decided it was just not in her best interest to take care of that baby anymore. It was dragging her body down too much. She was trying to founder her, um, which is why Margo has been raised by Gracie, a nurse. And so, um, that's where we're at. Maggie needs your prayers. We are really, really hoping that this all just like resolves itself and she can come home and and we're good. Um, without her being pregnant, like reality is, is that the baby wouldn't be there to, you know, to block it and it just flips back over on its own. But, um, there is the other possibility that it doesn't end good. And so, um, I'm choosing to look at the positive side for the moment, but knowing that reality is, um, is possibly not good.
