My husband did not want to be out there. He never did an interview in his life. When I first got here, I won Song of the Year and won my award in 1966, the year we got married. I wanted him to go with me, so he rented a tuxedo. I begged him to go. When we were leaving, he started taking off the jacket and said, ‘Now, I want you to do great, but don’t you ever ask me to go to ano Do I look like I'd be Dolly Parton's husband? He'd have on his straw hat and his coat, you know, his old work clothes and all. I didn't ever expose him to that.
