You could be permanently wanted in GTA 6 for being a bad criminal, because GTA 6 has a new system called a criminal profile, which is basically the GTA version of Red Dead 2's honor system. But instead of tracking if you're a good or bad person, it tracks how good of a criminal you are. So if you commit crimes like a robbery cleanly, where you just get in and get out without any violence or getting caught, your criminal profile will stay in good standing. But if every crime you commit goes bad and turns violent, then your criminal profile gets worse. And if it gets bad enough, the badge representing your criminal profile will crack. And Rockstar says this can't be reversed for the rest of your playthrough, meaning this could have permanent effects on how cops identify and respond to you. And now there's three different types of wanted stars. Hollow stars mean police know a crime happened but don't know who did it yet. Solid white stars means they've identified and are actively pursuing you. And once the cops lose you, the stars can turn red, which means you're wanted but they're still actively looking for you. And this will be marked as a heat zone on the map. And once police know your face, clothes, or even car, you'll have to ditch your car, change your appearance with things like a store outfit in your trunk, or even split Jason and Lucia up if they did the crime together. Rockstar even said that after a three-star wanted level, you'll be better off getting away on foot. You can't just drive away to lose your wanted level, and how you commit and get away with the crime really matters.
