There's one thing my Nana knows how to make. Vanilla slice. She showed me how to make a good vanilla slice a couple weeks ago and it's honestly one of those recipes I'll probably make forever. We start with Pampas puff pastry, bake until it's nice and golden. And then comes the that thick creamy vanilla custard filling. Once that's all layered together, it's the icing sugar and then the absolute worst part, having to wait for it to set before you can eat it. But seriously, look at that. Every time I make this, it reminds me.
