I flew all the way to Tokyo, Japan to get a custom made pillow. When my husband asked me what I wanted for my 30th birthday, I said I wanted a custom made pillow from Japan. We went over to Nihonbashi Nishikawa and walked in and I had no idea that they actually take appointments and like, lucky for us, it was first thing in the morning and they had a spot available for me. So I definitely recommend booking it. It begins by giving you a consult form to see what you're after, followed by measurements of your head to give you the perfect pillow customized to your comfort. I have arthritis in my neck, so a firm pillow that supports my neck is exactly what I was after. So many options on the fillings, the firmness and the size that you can create. I am a side sleeper, so they ensure that both sides of my pillow are of a height that far comfortable on either side. They start making it with all your preferences. It takes about 15 minutes, which is really quick. Once they make your pillow up for you, they get you to try it again to ensure that you're happy and you can change it if you want to at this stage. I was so surprised that they also give you extra filling to take home so that way if you needed to adjust it by a centimeter or two, you can as the pillow gets worn in. Prices do vary depending on what you choose, but for reference, my pillow cost me 358 AUD. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and I'm so glad that the algorithm popped up with this recommendation a couple months back. I have ever had such a good night's sleep like I have with my new pillow. I highly recommend it. As always, I'll link it in my bio.
