Friend, today is National Grief Awareness Day and I need you to hear me when I say this. Grief does not just affect your heart. It can affect your whole body and your mental wellness. And I know this because I have lived it. When you lose somebody you love, especially if that loss is sudden or traumatic, it can literally change the way your brain and nervous system responds to life. You may have brain fog. You can't remember stuff. You're exhausted even though you haven't done anything. You may be irritated, anxious, unable to sleep, or sometimes you feel nothing at all. And people will look at you like, it's been a year, two years, three years. Aren't you better? Friend, hear me. Grief does not work like that. Trauma can literally keep your body in survival mode. Your brain is trying to process the fact that somebody that was a part of your everyday life is suddenly not here anymore. That in itself will take a toll on you mentally, emotionally, and physically. So if you know someone that's grieving, please stop trying to fix them. Stop telling them to be strong. Just be there. Check on them when everybody else has stopped checking on them. Remember birthdays, remember anniversaries. Say their person's name. And friend, if you are the one grieving, please take care of your mental wellness. Therapy, support groups, prayer, medication if you need it. Whatever healthy support looks like for you, you do not have to carry that by yourself. My call to action today is simple. Check on your grieving friend. Send the text. Make the call. Go sit with them. And to my friend that's grieving, take your time. Grief doesn't necessarily get easier. We just learn how to grow around it. I love you friend. And I'm rooting for you. All right, call your back.
