You should break down technical and non-technical roles before you pick a path in cyber. Most people skip this step and waste a year studying for a job they’d hate. → Technical: SOC analyst, pen tester, security engineer, IAM/identity, cloud security. You’re in the tools daily… logs, configs, code. Certs and hands-on labs matter most here. → Non-technical: GRC, risk, compliance, audit, security awareness, vendor risk, program management. You’re translating security into policy, process, and business language. Writing and communication matter more than scripting. Both pay well. Both are in demand. But they’re completely different day-to-days.. figure out which one you actually want before you spend $500 on a cert and months studying the wrong material.
