Why it worked

The video succeeds by framing a brand promotion as a relatable, authentic 'story-time' about a frustrating user experience, which builds trust before showcasing the final product.

Summary

The creator documents their experience using the Verizon app to claim a free accessory, detailing the technical difficulties and the billing process. The video concludes with the creator unboxing the JBL speaker they successfully claimed.

Structure

1Creator introduces the Verizon app deal
2Describes technical issues with claiming the offer
3Explains the billing and credit process
4Unboxes the final product received

Product placement

Verizon (a) ACTS: the app interface is operated to claim a free accessory, and the creator explains the billing/credit process. Removing it would change the entire video. JBL (a) ACTS: the product is selected, color-customized, and unboxed. Removing it would change the video as it is the specific item being claimed.

For this one, I set my alarm and everything, but it almost seemed like I wasn't going to be able to claim it. Then finally went through. I initially wanted one of these. I literally tried every single color and it would not let me apply my coupon code. Had to call somebody and they said that nobody was able to. It was a whole fiasco. And when the lady told me to try back later, I did, but the colors that I wanted were already gone. And it's kind of silly, so it charges you the full amount on your bill and then the next bill you'll get a credit for it. But it finally arrived and I really like this one. So even though it took some time, thank you Verizon.
