Police say that's when an emotionally disturbed 49-year old woman, armed with two large knives, stabbed her in the stomach, killing her. The attacker also struck a 68-year-old man before she was confronted by police, who ordered her repeatedly to drop the knives — she refused. They tased her, but it did not slow her down, so they circled her. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch says she threatened police, then began twirling and jabbing the air and moved towards the officers. Commissioner Tisch says they did what they are trained to do, and shot her. The mother of the 49-year-old woman, though, is speaking out, questioning why police acted the way they did. Here's what she said, through a translator: "There were so many police... Why didn't they grab her by the arm?" Now the NYPD, during the Q&A yesterday, last evening here in Times Square, said that they did what they are trained to do.
