Three years ago, I hit a point where I knew I couldn’t keep living like that. The stress.
The exhaustion.
The behavior issues.
The unpaid overtime.
Feeling like I was giving everything to everyone else while having nothing left for myself or my family. But I also felt trapped. I had degrees.
Bills.
And I kept telling myself there was “no way out.” So I had a choice: Keep hoping education would magically get easier... or start building something on the side before I completely burned out. Nothing changed until I did. Not my income.
Not my situation.
Not my mindset. Because I was doing what so many burnt-out teachers do: Overthinking.
Waiting to feel ready.
Telling myself, “Maybe next year.” Meanwhile... my life stayed exactly the same. So I made a shift. I stopped waiting for certainty and started learning new skills from my phone while I was still teaching. Posting even when it felt awkward.
Learning about affiliate marketing and digital products.
Figuring it out as I went instead of waiting for the “perfect” plan. And slowly... things started changing. Extra income started coming in.
Opportunities showed up. And for the first time, I realized there actually WAS a way out. Because the truth is: If you wait until leaving teaching feels completely safe... you’ll probably stay stuck a lot longer than you want to. At some point, you have to decide: Are you going to keep surviving every school year... or finally start building your exit plan?
