If I could only keep one children’s book, this might be it. There’s a Monster in Your Book is one of my favorites for shared reading because it makes language learning feel so natural. You’re not stopping the story to “work on” vocabulary. Your child gets to actually experience the words as you read. There are tons of verbs throughout the book, including some less common ones like tilt, blow, and wiggle. And because you’re acting them out together, your child gets that extra connection between the word and what it means. Plus, you’re working together to get the monster out, so your child is actually part of the story instead of just listening to you read. It’s fun, it’s interactive, and there are so many opportunities to build language. Clearly I love it enough to own three copies!!! #slp #speechtherapy #childrensbooks #kidsbooks
