Gilbert’s best neighborhood breakfast spot has the award to prove it. I visited @the_gilberthouse_restaurant_ , a multigenerational family affair that started with an aunt and is now run by her niece. The family comes from South Dakota, everything here is made from scratch, and the restaurant itself is inside an actual 1920s house that was originally ordered from the Sears catalog! I tried the Banana Walnut Pancake, Green Chile Omelet, Smoky Pepper Chorizo Benedict, Southwest Chicken Sandwich, plus the fall Caramel Apple Cinnamon Roll. For drinks, the seasonal Dirty Pumpkin Espresso was a must, along with the Sunny Side Sipper mocktail.
