Kal and Kal the same word, tal and kal the same word, mean two different things in Hindi. Kal can mean both yesterday and tomorrow. And the only way you can figure out what somebody's trying to say is using context clues. For example, "Main kal gayi thi" means "I went yesterday" versus "Main kal jaungi" that means "I will go tomorrow." Crazy. What's really tricky is if you have a sentence where you can't tell whether the word yesterday or tomorrow, yesterday or tomorrow, based off of context clues. For example, "Hum kal ke bare me baat kar rahe hai" this directly means, we're talking about. But this "Kal" could be yesterday or tomorrow. I actually love studying languages and "Kal" is one of my favorite words. And I actually wrote in my college application essay. Fun fact. And if you think is confusing, wait till you learn about "Parson."
