We had the opportunity to play Final Fantasy Resonance at Gamescom 2026, giving us a small glimpse of what the full blown JRPG has to offer. If you've been keeping up with the premise of Resonance, then you might have heard that the game is somewhat an adaptation of an older mobile game called Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. But do not let this sway you, do not worry. Final Fantasy Resonance is not just some mobile game rehash. It's a fully realized and fine-tuned console quality RPG that is loosely based on the first story arc found in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. While we can't go into specifics in our time playing the game, we did end up finding Prince Noctis before heading to the Wind Shrine, which was the bulk of our demo. Really, our one complaint is the UI and text presentation, especially during battles. Our demo is an indication of how the whole game will play out. It'll be a treat for die-hard fans who just want to get all warm and fuzzy in nostalgic. Final Fantasy Resonance is not just some mobile game rehash.
