Some days take more out of us than we realize. You show up. You work. You take care of people. You solve problems. You keep moving. And sometimes it isn’t until you finally sit down that your body says, “Okay… that was enough for today.” As an ICU doctor, I talk a lot about prevention, but prevention isn’t only about what you eat or how often you exercise. Recovery is part of your health too. Chronic stress and poor recovery can affect your sleep, energy, mood, blood pressure, and even the choices you make the next day. Your body needs opportunities to come out of “go mode.” A few simple things can help: 😴 Protect your sleep, especially after demanding days. 🚶 Take a short walk or get outside to decompress. 📵 Give your brain some time away from work and screens. ❤️ Spend time with people who help you feel grounded. 🧘 And sometimes, simply sit down and allow yourself to do nothing. We spend so much time learning how to push ourselves. We should also learn how to recover. If you know someone who’s always saying, “I’m fine,” share this with them today. ❤️ And while you’re checking on everyone else, don’t forget to check in on yourself too. I’m offering a free health assessment to help you get a better understanding of where your health stands today and where you may want to give yourself more attention. Comment “SCORE” below and I’ll send it to you. #Lifestyle #stressmanagement #workhard #resting #recoveryispossible
