“Third spaces” are a hot topic right now, and Northern Colorado has what is, in my opinion, a shining example of the kind of community-forward venue that embodies that concept. The Love Shack is a sober bar, and as someone who is constantly on the lookout for a space that is open later in the day, has the capacity to host groups, and isn’t entirely centered around alcohol, this place is like a dream come true. @The Love Shack is Northern Colorado's first fully alcohol-free bar, and the entire space is set up with gathering in mind. Downstairs is a full gaming basement with pool, darts, and a dedicated (and rentable) D&D room. Upstairs is the Cloud Room, a soft, quiet loft for people who want to sit and talk (or read…or do homework…). And the main floor houses lots of tables, several couches, plenty of bartop seating, and a big ole dance floor/open space. The events calendar is a major standout to me, with events ranging from karaoke nights, D&D campaigns, mahjong meetups, mom meetups, comedy shows, and an Autumn Fest on October 4th and 5th with local vendors, handmade goods, and a community art project. Downtown Loveland is in the middle of the city's 4th Street Revitalization, a multi-year construction project that's been hard on the businesses down there, Love Shack included. If you've been meaning to check out a new spot, now is an excellent time to make it be this one.
