Did you know if you quit your job as a quant or an elite quant firm then you can be paid up to two years in compensation to just sit at home? It's called Garden Leave. Quant firms like Jane Street, HRT and many others use restrictive agreements because their researchers and traders have deep knowledge of the firm's strategies, models, actual systems. One of the restrictive agreements is a non-compete, which practically bans individuals or employees that the company from going out and joining another firm. A notable example is Citadel, which bans its employees from joining another firm for up to two years. But while you're waiting out these two years being compensation under your agreement. The pipeline is basically quit your job, get paid, don't trade, wait, compete. Let me know if you guys think this agreement is fair or not.
