While making my flower rounds I stumbled upon a lotus flower. And it's been a dream of mine to find these, so let's make an arrangement with these. Going back to the basics, we're doing an ikebana arrangement and I'm using museum wax to secure the Kenzan in place because the lotus flowers are pretty heavy. So I just roll it up into a ball and let it set for a few minutes. Here's the first flower. She's giant and magnificent. One of the principles of ikebana is to use 3 primary stems to form like a scalene triangle. So that's how I'm starting off the arrangement. Also I'm adding lotus seeds. Stems are so insane and there's so many details. Traditional Ikebana is centred around asymmetry and also negative space, so I kept it kind of minimal to keep attention on the lotus flowers. Petals fall off cause the flowers themselves are super delicate. So I just kind of put them onto the pedestal as like a little detail so that it looks like it's falling from the flowers. And here's the finished arrangement. I started my floral practice with ikebana so it felt really nice to get back to that. It was very therapeutic. It reminded me that less is more.
