Today, I decided to do nothing. Not because there was nothing to do. There is always something waiting, something needing attention, something asking me to be responsible, productive or available. I just decided that, for once, none of it had to be urgent. So I went outside. No real plans. No pressure to make the day productive. Just fresh air, a change of scenery and a little space to exist without having to be anything for anyone. Writing Redefining Decency made me confront something I am still learning to practise in my own life: being strong does not mean constantly overriding yourself. I wrote about the weight of always being the strong one, but writing those words did not suddenly make me immune to carrying too much. I still have to remind myself to stop. To rest. To choose myself sometimes. To understand that slowing down does not mean I am falling behind. Sometimes healing looks incredibly ordinary. It looks like a quiet Sunday. An unplanned outing. A slower pace. A few hours where nobody needs anything from you. Today, I chose that kind of softness. And if you are reading this while carrying more than you admit, maybe you need it too. Not a dramatic escape. Not a complete reset. Just a little room to breathe. Put something down for a while. Go outside. Sit somewhere quiet. Take the long way home. Allow yourself a moment that does not need to be productive to be worthwhile. I wrote Redefining Decency for the people everyone leans on. But I am also one of them. 🤍 Redefining Decency Because the goal was never to become harder. The goal was always to become whole. #redefiningdecency #MentalHealth #sundayoutingsss🤩🤩 #zaarah✨🌿
