I changed my mind about Lindsay Clancy. Just not in the way some of you were hoping. After listening to people explain how powerful postpartum depression and postpartum mental illness can be, I realized something: The argument being used to excuse accountability is even more dangerous than I thought. Mental illness is real. Postpartum illness is real. It deserves treatment, research, compassion, and serious consideration. But if your argument is that a woman’s hormones can make her so incapable of controlling her actions that she shouldn’t be held responsible, you need to think about where that logic leads. Women fought for generations to be recognized as capable of holding power, making serious decisions, and being held to the same standards as men. You don’t get to throw that away the second accountability becomes uncomfortable. #LindsayClancy #Accountability #PostpartumMentalHealth
