Hook
This Japanese scientist was trying to make a new type of glue, but he accidentally created something with a property you'd want in your phone screen. During one experiment, he let the glue mixture dry and the material became hard, almost like glass, which still sounds like a failed experiment until he broke this translucent material in half. Because when he pressed the broken pieces back together for about 30 seconds, they just reattached, and not because he added more glue. Just pressing the broken surfaces together allowed their hydrogen bonds to reconnect. Give it a few hours and it was almost as strong as before. He basically discovered a self-healing glass like material.
