What obsessing over the end result does to you: 1. It pays you early. Picturing the win gives you a small dose of the feeling of winning. You spend the reward before you do the work. 2. It makes every good day score zero. You don't feel progress by how far you've come. You feel it by how fast the gap is closing. Aim at something ten years out and today always looks like nothing. 3. It eats the focus you needed. An unfinished goal keeps running in the background. It's using the attention the work was supposed to get. What to do instead: Pick a finish line you can see. One thing, done by a time you name, today. Close enough that the day can pay out. Write the next step down. A goal with a plan stops nagging. A goal without one runs all day. Copy a habit, not an outcome. Find someone who already has it. Take one ordinary thing they do and do that tomorrow. Keep the dream. Just stop scoring your day against it. What could you finish today, before you check how far you still have to go? #discipline #habits #execution #mindset #SelfImprovement
