Malone Lam has admitted to masterminding one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts ever recorded, pleading guilty to racketeering conspiracy in a US court. The 22-year-old Singaporean and a group of accomplices stole $245 million in bitcoin from victims, then blew the proceeds on nightclub sprees costing up to $500,000 a night, along with a collection of supercars worth up to $3.8 million apiece, US prosecutors said. Operating under aliases including Anne Hathaway, $$$ and King Greavy, Lam had dropped out of school at 14 before relocating to the US, where he ran a network that tricked victims into revealing sensitive information to access their crypto wallets.
