Welcome to Thrift Finds Reimagined, where I show you how to reimagine a thrifted item's appearance or function. Something you'll find almost every time you walk into a thrift store are shelves. So many shapes and styles and the possibilities are endless. I thrifted this shelf for $4, mounted it to the wall in my daughter's room, added a thrifted mirror and chair, a few fun accessories and suddenly this shelf has become the perfect miniature vanity. It's definitely making the bed feel extra fancy and honestly, I don't think you'd ever guess it was a second-hand shelf. You just need to rethink what goes on the shelf. I spotted this pottery barn kids bookshelf, but in my mind, I didn't see a shelf for books, I saw one for plates. I had my husband help me mount it on our kitchen wall and it's the perfect plate rack because it's originally meant for books, it's super sturdy. I have about 40 plates currently. Or maybe the only thing the shelf needs is a simple coat of paint. I made this shelf a little bit more whimsical by adding stripes and it acts as the perfect little cupboard in my kids' playroom. The next time you're at the thrift store, do a little reimagining and see what magic you can create.
