The Norwegian royal court has announced the death of Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner, at age 94. 🇳🇴 Considered the world’s oldest working royal at the time of her death, Astrid passed away just two weeks after her younger brother, King Harald V of Norway, and two days after attending his state funeral. She had previously served as Norway’s “first lady” after the death of her mother in 1954, until the wedding of her brother in 1968. She was descended from the royal houses of Britain and Norway through her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, and her grandmother, Queen Maud. She was known for wearing gorgeous (yet sometimes eccentric) jewels from their collections. She left behind five children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her beloved Chihuahua, Wilma. #royalnews #norwegianroyalfamily #princessastrid #royalhistory #royaljewels
