I'm Danielle, I'm a New Yorker who moved to the Bay Area about nine months ago now. And these are the things that I have been most confused by moving here. The weather has my mind spun because yesterday it was 95 degrees. Actually, we went up to Petaluma and it was 101 degrees. And then I drove into the city over the bridge and it was 68 degrees. I'm still dropping my head around that. I'm guessing there's something with the ocean meets the bay because it was right as we went over the Golden Gate where it was fogged in, confusing. The second thing is I don't know what you call the freeways here because I've heard 101 or the 101. I'm not sure which it is, I can't remember ever. The third one is very strange, but there's a lot of Spanish named things that are pronounced completely wrong. Like I live in Santa Rafael. It should be Santa Rafael. I don't understand that. It's very bizarre. And then there's another one about the drinking culture here. It's more of a wondering because I've noticed people drink way less here, smoke more weed, do more mushrooms, etcetera, etcetera. The reciprocity there, um, about how that differs so much from the East Coast because I feel like people on the East Coast just pound alcohol and don't dabble in much else except for the New York City nightlife. Early 2000s, which we don't need to talk about. And another one is the way people dress when they go out for dinner. It's just way more casual, which is great. Like I like to be casual too, but if you're going to a nice restaurant, it's nice to dress up. So I'm not sure why we don't do that here so much.
