Raising kids in California After moving from NY/Connecticut

So I started raising my kids on the East Coast. We moved about seven months ago. The biggest differences I see in raising kids in New York, Connecticut versus Marin. The most obvious one, outdoor life here is much, much bigger. Has to do with the seasons being less violent than the East Coast, but almost everyone I know here camps. I think I know one family back in Connecticut that goes camping. Public school culture vs private. The private school culture on the East Coast is much more prevalent than Marin. I don't know if it's because our schools here are so good. They are also very good in Connecticut, but I know a handful of families that did private school back on the East Coast, and almost everyone I know here does public, which is amazing. People here in Marin eat way healthier. I've noticed the farmers market is part of life. Farms are part of life. That is less common. It's impossible to find, but less common to find on the East Coast. I will also say the birthday parties on the East Coast tend to be crazier. I think here, parties we've been been either in a backyard or at a pool.
