When I need something quick with just a few items in my makeup bag, I go for a double sided eyeshadow brush. The one I have is from Kat Von D, but it has been discontinued. I go from the lightest shade to the darkest shade with the bigger end of the brush, then go for shading in the outer corner and underneath with the pointy end of the brush. It works out really well.
