There was a very dark point about 6 months ago where I genuinely thought that years of living like I was under attack 24/7 was would kill me. Chronic Pain. Bloating. Heart Palpatations. I was riddled with anxiety. Rushing everything and living in a state of panic. Always waiting for the next thing to go wrong. Even when I was resting, I wasn’t really resting. And I thought that was just who i was. I hit rock bottom in February 2026 and I started feeling like it could be my mental health that ended everything. It wasn’t one huge thing that changed it. I didn’t just wake up on day different. It was lots of tiny things that slowly taught me how to actually experience my life again. I slowed down, everything I was doing. I kept reminding myself to slow down. Stop rushing washing your hands. Stop rushing washing your dinner plate up. SLOW IT DOWN. I stopped treating rest like something I had to earn. I started spending time outside every day — even if it was just 10 minutes. I started meditating instead of immediately reaching for my phone when my brain got loud. I started practising witchcraft and spirituality in a way that made me slow down, notice the seasons, work with intention and actually be present. I started gardening and growing things, something I never imagined would bring me so much peace and purpose. I stopped filling every spare second with noise and started getting comfortable with quiet. I created daily rituals to making ordinary things feel special, my morning drink, lighting a candle, cooking, walking, tidying my home. I started asking myself, “Is something actually wrong right now?” instead of letting my brain convince my body there was an emergency. I asked for help with my GP, sertraline gave my brain a rest to reset, I was so against medication but now I truly know how life changing it can be. I stopped waiting for my life to become perfect before allowing myself to enjoy it. My life isn’t suddenly stress free. I still have responsibilities, difficult days and things I can’t control. But I don’t live every day braced for impact anymore and I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever felt more content. If you’re currently in the place I was, don’t try to overhaul your entire life overnight. Pick ONE tiny thing that makes your body feel safe, slow or present and start there. Do that for a week then add 1 more. When they start to stack on top of each other, that’s when the magic happens 🤍 Save this for the days when everything feels a little too loud xoxo #nervoussystemhealing #HealingJourney #anxietydisorder #depression
