1. Pimples that don’t go away in 6-8 weeks can represent skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma (and less often melanoma or merkel cell carcinoma) 2. “Cysts” that continue to grow rapidly over weeks to months should be checked by a doctor. Many cysts like lesions are completely benign but in some cases they can be skin cancer like squamous cell carcinoma. Other 🚩include bleeding and pain. 3. A “scar” that appears out of nowhere (without prior injury) and grows should raise suspicion. Skin sarcomas like dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) or dermal sarcoma can appear like a simple scar at first.
