Why it worked
The post leverages high-stakes, relatable storytelling from a specific, widely-recognized historical period (the pandemic), creating an emotional connection with other healthcare workers and the general public through authentic, raw imagery.
Summary
A nurse shares a series of photos reflecting on their experience working in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic. The slides highlight the challenging working conditions, the use of specialized medical equipment, and the personal growth experienced during that time.
Structure
- 1Introduction to the creator's experience as a new grad RN during the pandemic
- 2Visuals of modified hospital setups and equipment
- 3Personal reflection on the physical toll of PPE
- 4Acknowledgment of the teamwork and difficult environment
- 5Closing reflection on professional growth and well-wishes to colleagues
Product placement
3M (Aura 1870+ N95 mask) - APPEARS as a brand logo on the mask in the first slide. Removing it would not change the video. BD (Alaris PCU infusion pumps) - APPEARS as a brand logo on the medical equipment in the second and fourth slides. Removing it would not change the video.

I completed new grad RN orientation in the ICU shortly before COVID began.. this is what it was like
Pumps outside the rooms to limit exposure.. LOTS of extension tubing as you can imagine.
Constant irritation, sores, and redness from N95s/PAPR
Closed units, surgical scrubs, and the best teamwork a nurse could ask for.
That's one camp that I don't think I want to visit again.
Skeleton crew codes that were a sauna due to all the PPE.
This time shaped me into the nurse that I am today. I hope all of my fellow healthcare workers from that time are well.
