A new peer-reviewed study published in PLOS ONE has found that people who frequently play video games performed as well on cognitive tests . This covered short-term memory, verbal abilities, and logical reasoning, as people who were 13.7 years younger than them. The study, led by researchers at Western University in Canada, recruited over 1,000 participants globally and measured their gaming habits, physical activity, mental health, and cognitive performance. Interestingly, regular physical activity showed no significant relationship with cognitive performance at all - despite being strongly linked to better mental health outcomes. The researchers concluded that exercise and gaming have distinct and complementary effects on the brain, exercise for your mental health, gaming for your mind. Not a bad excuse to keep playing. #gamingnews #GamingOnTikTok #videogames
