The surgeon's motive here was

The surgeon's motive here was that he was being sued, the surgeon, by former patients for medical malpractice, and the case against him was very strong. And the person who represented those former patients was Steven Cozzi. The law firm that Steven worked at was responsible for handling the case against this surgeon. On one particular morning, there was a hearing set where all parties were to attend virtually. The surveillance footage outside of Steven's law firm shows that this doctor pulled up and entered the building in the early hours. Steven comes in morning time and never exits. He goes to his desk, he puts down his keys, wallet, phone, and then goes to the bathroom and is never seen again. The surgeon is seen exiting the bathroom with a backpack and a cart with a large and heavy transport that he struggles to get into his truck and the contents of that cart are presumed to be Steven. The doctor gets into his truck, joins the hearing virtually, and then proceeds to ask the judge to issue sanctions against Steven. Sanctions are some sort of punishment against a party, usually financial or monetary for something that happens in a case like willfully missing a hearing. And he is asking the judge to do this while Steven is in the back of his truck. And once the hearing ends, he proceeds on his long journey through central and South Florida to complete the heinous act that he committed. So instead of resolving this lawsuit like anybody could or would, especially somebody with as much money as this man had, he decides to ruin his life and everyone else's with the stupidest possible solution, which isn't really even a solution because killing the opposing party to a lawsuit will not successfully defeat the lawsuit against you, unfortunately. And not only is he dealing with that, that's now the least of his problems. He is facing the death penalty.
